Health Insurance Plans

The plans Student Cover provides are accepted in most universities in the United States. There are two main options for the students travelling abroad in respect for Insurance. They can opt for International Health & Travel Insurance from either Indian Insurance companies or International or country specific Insurance companies. But it is very important to check for the university's waiver requirements, whether the external insurance plan would be accepted in the university or not. Plan Purchasing

  • If Student Cover’s UHC plans are accepted in your university you can purchase the plans from www.studentcover.in
  • For UHC Plans the payment is required to be made in US Dollars and you can use your FOREX or Credit Card for making the transaction
  • If Student Cover’s Indian plans are accepted in your university, then you can provide your details (Passport copy, i-20, Travel Date, Sponsor & Nominee name, Emergency Contact no and Alternate Email Address)

Registering Your Account on www.uhcsr.com

  • If you have UHC Plan, you will be required to register your account on www.uhcsr.com after purchasing the plan from www.studentcover.in
  • From your account on www.uhcsr.com, you will be able to download your UHC ID card
  • For Indian plans you will receive all the insurance documents on your email after purchasing the insurance

Waiver Filing or Plan Acceptance in your university

  • Every university in the United States, have their own set of waiver requirements.
  • There can be online or offline waiver form. In the online waiver form, you will be required to file the waiver on your account given by the university to you, whereas in offline waiver, you will be required to submit hard copy of the waiver form to the university
  • We will help you in filing out the waiver form and getting your policy accepted by the university

Using the Insurance, when you are sick on injured

  • For using UHC plan, search for the near by preferred providers as shown in the video on this page
  • Show your UHC ID card and get the treatment
  • For using Indian plan, you can go to any doctor or hospital near by for the treatment and inform the company by sending them an email

How to Claim

Opting for Insurance can only be complemented by appropriate use of the Insurance plan so that the insured is able to utilize the full potential of the benefits offered by the Insurance plan.Given below are the steps to use Insurance plans which students should keep handy at all times to the best out of the Insurance plans.

A. Direct Billing (When you go to a preferred provider)

Show your UHC ID Card at the doctor office

They may ask you to pay Copays as per the plan

Get yourself treated

When doctor gives Prescription

Go to the UHCP (United Healthcare Pharmacy) CVS and Walgreens are one of them

At the pharmacy show your UHC ID card (Rx Bin and PCN). They may ask you to pay Copays depending on your plan

After few days, you would find explanations of benefits (EOB) for your doctor’s visit in your account on www.uhcsr.com

B. Getting the Reimbursements

Documents Required

  1. Itemised medical bill
  2. Payment receipt
  3. Statement of the card having name and transaction details
  4. UHC ID card

Process

  1. Send the mentioned documents to UHCSR through following modes

Time for Claim Settlement

  1. It would take 30 to 45 business days after the submission of the claims through above mentioned procedures, for the claim to be settled and the amount to be refunded back to you

In case of Medical emergency

If it’s a life threatening situation, always call 911. You can also go to the nearest emergency room. But make sure, you are visiting the emergency room only in serious conditions, the insurance may deny the claim if you visit the emergency room for general illness. For almost all the illness you can always visit the urgent care center, which have similar facilities like that of emergency room and charge much less.

A.Direct Billing (In case of Hospitalization)

Show your ICICI ID Card at the Hospital

Post-treatment, you might be asked to pay the plan Deductible

Call ICICI at +1 844 871 1200 or Student Cover claims team for further guidance

Insurance co. will directly settle the bill with the medical provider

Go to the nearest pharmacy for post treatment prescription drugs

Pay for the medications bill & follow the claim reimbursement process to get the refund of the same

B. Claim reimbursement (In case of all treatments except hospitalization)

Get the needed consultation or treatment, after which provider may asks for the bill payment

Show your ID card and request to bill the insurance company for the same

In case provider does not agree, pay the bill amount*.

Call ICICI at +1 844 871 1200 or Student Cover claims team for further guidance

You will be requested to email some documents related to your treatment

  1. Student Cover will completely guide you at this stage and will do all possible efforts to get your claim settled in a timely manner

Time for Claim Settlement

  1. Post document submission, claim would be settled and refund would be made in Indian bank within 30-45 business days
